Electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes in short, are devices that are used for smoking, or what some people like to call it – pretend smoking. They are designed in such a way so that they do not produce any smoke. Instead, they emit vapor that users are supposed to inhale. Today, they are quite popular and there are no indications that their popularity will decrease any time soon. In fact, more and more people are getting interested in them.
These devices were invented and patented by a man called Hon Lik, who managed to create the very first e-cigarette in China in 2003. It can often be heard that Lik came up with his creation after a dream he once had. In the dream, he realized just how useful these cigarettes could be and he had an idea of how they would work and look like. Soon after that, he made his dream come true.
These devices are very simple and consist of only a couple of components. It was already pointed out that that they do not produce any smoke. This is because an e-cigarette contains a liquid solution that, when heated by a heating element in the cigarette, produces vapor, which is what people can inhale. The good thing about these liquid solutions is that people can choose whether or not they will get the ones that contain nicotine. The solutions also come in a wide variety of flavors that make these types of cigarettes even more special and more interesting. And of course, they work on batteries which can last for quite a long time.
There are different types of electronic cigarettes that are available today. One of the main components in them is a cartridge which contains the solution. There are disposable cartridges, which are used only once and there are those which can be refilled or replaced.
When it comes to the appearance of e-cigarettes, the majority of them are designed so that they look like the real thing. They are the same size, shape and they even have the same colors. The mouthpiece (which is obviously the part that is put in the mouth) is usually orange or yellow, the other end has a red tip that glows when vapor is inhaled and the rest of the cigarette is white. Although some people really like this style, there are others which people find interesting. For example, there are devices which look like pipes, those that look like pens or those that look like cigars. They are probably not all equally popular, but the important thing is that people have a couple of options to choose from.
In the end, it is important to note that people are getting more and more interested in these products not because people are generally interested in new things that are catching on, but because these devices are perfectly safe, legal and because of that, they can be used in restaurants, cafes and many others places where smoking is banned.
