Since I have never been a smoker, I have never been interested in anything that had something to do with smoking. However, unlike some people, I never made smokers feel bad about their habit. You know those people that start coughing or start doing something else in order to show just how much smoking bothers them, well I was never one of them. I always thought that those kinds of gestures were rude and unnecessary.
However, when I found myself one day in an airplane sitting next to a guy who had a cigarette in his hand, I have to admit that I was relived because smoking was banned in an airplane. I really didn`t want to sit next to someone who would create a cloud of smoke around me. You can imagine my surprise and how much I was confused when he put the cigarette in his mouth and started smoking. The very first thing that I noticed was that it didn`t smell at all, but that didn`t help me figure out what was going on.
Not wanting to be rude, I patiently waited for a flight attendant to see him and tell him to put it out. However, when she saw him, she said nothing and I was confused, to say the least. I thought that she didn`t see him after all and I was sure that she will say something the next time. When she didn`t, it occurred to me that I was probably missing something.
I decided to ask the man about it directly. Since I was always a bit of a shy kind of guy, I was never really good at starting a conversation, so I hesitated a lot. And I guess that the men noticed because he turned to me and asked what I was so nervous about. When I told him that I had no idea why his cigarette did not smell and why the flight attendant didn`t say anything to him, he told me that what he was using was an electronic cigarette that was perfectly safe for him and the people around him. It did not smell because the thing that looked like smoke was actually vapor.
For someone that was not interested in smoking, it turned out that I was more than interested in this pretend smoking. I was fascinated and the idea of having different flavors to choose from really appealed to me. The more I listened about electronic cigarettes, the more interested I was in getting one and giving it a try. Of course, the man offered me to try his out, but I thought that that would be rude.
As soon as I got home, I went online and found out that all the things that the man said about them were true. I was determined to get my own and see what it was all about. Of course, it took me quite some time to eventually choose the flavor and the style, but I eventually went for a pen-style cigarette with nicotine free vanilla flavored cartridge.
Now, I don`t go anywhere without my e-cigarette and I actually enjoy it when people get confused just like I was confused. I guess that there are still a lot of people who haven`t heard about electronic cigarettes, but if I were to judge these devices on the basis of how enjoyable they are, I think that soon, more and more people might start using them. They are really as great as they look.
